PASSION AND WORK
History of a cooperative
Fruit Modena Group’s history is deeply rooted in the traditions of the company’s land, preserving the memory and the awareness of the past.
Today, the company blends tradition and innovation to produce high-quality pears. With a constant focus on the future and sustainability, we aim to be a partner of excellence in the production of pears but also of apples, plums, and cherries to complete our assortment.
Thanks to significant investments in resources and technology across our three plants, we can enhance our products at their best. Both of our packing warehouses are equipped with optical calibration systems that increase the value of each batch and meet the demands of different markets. These systems evaluate not only size, weight, and colour but also external quality (iQS), detecting surface defects such as mechanical damages, abrasions, and russeting, as well as internal defects (like rotten parts, peduncle injuries, and cuts).

Birth of Campofrigo Cooperative
Campofrigo, a leading Cooperative in the fruit sector known for its production and marketing of Made in Italy pears, was established in Campogalliano, in the province of Modena.

Birth of Eurofrutta Cooperative
Eurofrutta, a fruit cooperative known for its production and sale of high-quality pears, was started in Sorbara, in the countryside of Modena.

Foundation of Fruit Modena Group
Thanks to the experience gained over 50 years of activity in the sector, Campofrigo and Eurofrutta cooperatives merged into a single big entity: the Fruit Modena Group Cooperative becoming the leader of the target market and able to offer Made in Italy fruits and more.

Founding members of Opera S.C.A. consortium
We became members of Opera Sca (Agricultural Cooperative Society), the first organization of Italian fruit growers specialized in pear cultivation. The consortium reunites the most important companies in the industry counting over 1000 members across Emilia-Romagna, Modena, Ferrara, and Forlì-Cesena.

Partecipation in the UNAPera APO
Thanks to our membership with the Opera Consortium, we also joined UNAPera, the first European APO (Association of Producers Organization) aiming to focus on the shared and regulated development of the pear industry. This organization establishes common standards and promotes the PGI pears of Emilia-Romagna.
Through UNAPera AOP, we also participate in experimental trials of new pear varieties with our own test plots, contributing to the entire supply chain development plans.

Towards a more sustainable business
Now more than ever, sustainability is a top priority. To adopt a working approach more focused on this vision, it is essential to start with small actions and develop a culture of respect for both people and the environment.
At Fruit Modena Group, we have long supported recycling, the reduction of energy waste, the collection of rainwater for cooling systems, and the maintenance of green spaces with natural products. We have also prioritized the use of alternative energy sources. Indeed, by 2026, we plan to enhance the solar power system in our Campogalliano plant and install a new one in Sorbara.
FMG has raised the bar of sustainability in its orchards by progressively implementing green practices in its production. These include integrated pest management and the use of pheromone disruption to control pests like the codling moth (Cydia pomonella), pollinating insects such as bumblebees and mason bees, and anti-insect nets. In addition, we have replaced traditional synthetic pesticides with natural repellents and fortifying agents, among other methods.
Our goal is to ensure sustainable development preserving resources for future generations. This will allow them to enjoy a technical and cultural heritage of high quality and value.
